Title: Anisotropy of Acoustically Induced Polarization in Human Lower Limb Bones and Tendons
Significant polarization anisotropy was observed in the Achilles tendon, with polarization occurring along the direction of collagen fiber alignment.
In the cortical bone of the tibia, anisotropic polarization was detected along the bone axis in the diaphyseal region, whereas near the epiphyseal region, polarization was also observed perpendicular to the bone axis.
Furthermore, polarization signals were detected from the cancellous bone of the calcaneus, suggesting that the ASEM method may enable evaluation of internal bone structures.
